Liz’s Hen Do at The Charlotte Street Hotel in London

December 12th, 2008 | Category: Personal

In March next year Beccy’s best friend is getting married. Beccy is thoroughly excited about this as she am going to be her matron of honour (Liz was her chief bridesmaid too when we got married). As matron of honour it was Beccy’s job to organise the hen do. Initial plans were to have this in February next year but Beccy won’t be able to attend then as our first baby is due that month! So Liz decided to schedule her hen do a couple of months earlier instead.

Beccy and Kaj, another of the bridesmaids, have been as thick as thieves for the past few months planning the day to perfection. Liz wanted a sophisticated day out in London but for under £50 (always a challenge in London) so in the end everyone was treated a movie (chosen by vote – ‘Pretty Woman’ won hands down!) in the private screening room at The Charlotte Street Hotel in London followed by a three course meal in a private dining room. Plus there were lots of extra personalised elements planned in by Beccy and Kaj for good measure. It is safe to say that Liz thoroughly enjoyed herself as her text after the event confirmed: “Thank u so much for making my hen do so special. I’m overwhelmed by all that u both did. I will never forget it! I enjoyed every moment poss apart from the veil and blindfold! Thank u thank u thank u! Liz x”

Beccy took the camera for the day to capture the action as it unfolded.

The dress code for the day was Posh Frocks and Feather Boas.

The private screening room at the Charlotte Street Hotel is decked out with stylish, tomato red, leather seats.

The private dining room at The Charlotte Street Hotel is stunningly decorated anyway but Beccy and Kaj added the finishing touches to the table decoratings with goodie bags, table confetti and willy straws!

The hens were split into teams for a wedding quiz with several rounds that ran throughout the afternoon  – all questions were wedding related and the competition was close with a tie-break decider.

All hens had to bring a small present for the bride with a value of £5 or under. The catch was that the present had to have a story behind it linked to the bride and the hen in question. It was then Liz’s job, on opening the present, to guess who the present was from and what the story behind it was. The most original has to be Emily’s present of a tub of Cornish Clotted Cream and a burnt fish finger! The Cream was to represent Cornwall and a holiday they went on together there and the burnt fish finger was a reminder of the night they had to pile out of their flat in the middle of the night due to a fire alarm because the lads in the flat upstairs burnt some fish fingers!!

All the hens were asked to complete a questionnaire about the bride before the day and these were compiled into a book for Liz to read through (and laugh at)!

Helen & Dan’s Wedding at De Vere Wychwood Park near Crewe

December 08th, 2008 | Category: Weddings

Helen and Dan held their autumn wedding at the De Vere venue, Wychwood Park. Helen got ready at the venue so it was just a short stroll through reception with her dad to get to the ceremony room. After the ceremony, although it wasn’t raining it was a very cold day so noone wanted to spend a lot of time outdoors. However, this didn’t impact on the photos at all because Wychwood Park is one of the few venues we have worked at where the inside probably has better locations for photos than outside thanks to its contemporary decor – ideal for an autumn or winter wedding.

We loved the animal print on these chairs so wanted to incorporate them in a photo.

With their wedding so close to Bonfire Night, Helen, Dan and their guests got treated to a free fireworks display put on by the people on the local estate.
